On Tuesday, January 9th, 2017 The Adolescent Community joined the Ecobricks Workshop in Bale Banjar Sangkring or Sangkring Art Spaces, Nitiprayan, Bantul. This Ecobricks Workshop was part of the exhibition \u201cTranscending Trash: Collaboration Exhibition of The Journey of Social and Creative Movement for Clean and Green Indonesia\u201d by Ecobricks.org.<\/p>\n

What is ecobricks? <\/strong>
\nBased on Ecobricks.org, ecobricks are some plastic bottles stuffed solid with non-biological waste to create a reusable building block. Ecobricks are used to make modular furniture, garden spaces and full scale buildings such as schools and houses. Ecobricks are a collaboration powered technology that provides a zero-cost solid waste solution for individuals, households, schools and communities.<\/p>\n

Ecobricks are an exciting way that we can take action today to stop pollution and to start envisioning a healthier way of living with our environment. <\/p>\n

We found that ecobricks were very interesting, and we decided to join this workshop. For this workshop, we had to bring used mineral water (600 ml), clean used plastics (detergent packaging, snack, soap, etc). There, we learned about how to make ecobricks. We worked in pairs. One used bottle of 600 ml mineral water for a pair of students. <\/p>\n

First, the facilitator, gave the explanation about how plastic was made, its impact to the environment, fact that the reuse, reduce, recycle still couldn\u2019t stop the plastic pollution, and finally the ecobricks was one of the solution. And then after that, we start doing the ecobricks. <\/p>\n

First step, we cut and ripped all the used plastics we brought, and then we had to press them with the bamboo stick into the bottle until it was full and weighed up to minimum 200 gram. Beside we learned about how to make ecobricks, we learned also about how to make the creation with the ecobricks. <\/p>\n
